On 14 June 1800, Marengo is the scene of one of the bloodiest Napoleonic campaigns that saw the French army of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Austrian enemy, army of Melas.
The Battle of Marengo is perhaps the most famous of the Napoleonic epicbecause of the political value that had this victory.
With it Bonaparte consolidated his power, acquired by the coup of 18 January 1799 and regained the dominion of Italy.
It was a providential success after the failure of the Egyptian campaign.
